Gold & Chocolate Brown Weddings

I just finished an invitation I designed for a couple who are getting married in November and I absolutely adore the color combination the bride is using....Gold & Chocolate Brown is so rich and elegant.
I used two different color satin ribbons for the invites which are printed on a light chocolate marble cardstock with a brown backing.

Here are a few more ideas for you ladies who might be looking to set your wedding theme with these fab colors...

Super Heroes

Being the mommy of a 4 1/2 yr. old boy the time has come when my son is OBSESSED with superheroes. He decided he's going to be a new superhero everyday, which makes it quite hard to keep up with him....because the lil boss of me gets in a mood and has to correct us on who he is that day.
We just bought him the Marvel Comics Encyclopedia and the DC Comics Encyclopedia and I have to say that I am quite smitten with these books as well. Who knew there were so many superheroes?

I will admit that as a child I too was a tad obsessed with Superheroes...being a girl my favorite was Wonderwoman. I use to put on Reynolds aluminum foil on my wrists so I could have Wonder Woman's bracelets. (Yes..I am calling the theraphist as I write this)
I used to parade around the house with my aluminum foil on the wrists thinking I was the "bomb"

My son wanted to go see The Dark Knight...but we obviously said No, even though the hubby and I were dying to go see it.....so what does a responsible mother do....she buys a bootleg copy from a shady guy on the street. (hopefully I won't be sent to the slammer for admiting I bought a bootleg copy)

We watched the movie (not my son he was too busy watching the transformers (another one of his obsessions) on the other tv)

I have to say that the movie was great...I have to admit I wanted to see it because of Heath Ledger....and truly he was amazing. The movie was quite violent from start to finish so definitely not recommended for the little ones.

Now I'm off to raid the kitchen cabinets for aluminum foil and pretend I'm Wonder Woman fighting battles alongside of Spiderman (my son's superhero of choice today)

Marc Jacobs: Do you Dig it?

So as I strolled through Duane Reade yesterday for my weekly spray gel, nyquil fix and other neccesity buyings....I picked up a copy of Lucky magazine...when I got home I sat down to check out the great stuff....and I landed on this....this is an ad for Marc Jacobs.

It took me a while to figure this out....(maybe I'm getting old and it took me longer to think)

This is a guy in a dress....(let me tell you I still haven't quite figured it out)

I honestly could care less what a guy wears (except my guy) but is this ad aimed at women or men?

Does this mean men will be wearing dresses?

I love Marc Jacobs designs....but this I don't know.

What do you think?

Bean Pickle Sprout

How adorable are Bean Pickle Sprout's Designs? Fab shop over at Etsy...love all the modern designs for baby clothes and accessories! Tres chic and FAB!

New Etsy Shop

So I felt like I was living in chaos (actually I am living in chaos) but I'm talking about my Etsy shop...I was not digging the fact that my invitations were meshing with my Nastee Notes and that my Nastee Notes were meshing with my Blue Sugar Press line of stationery. So I seperated Blue Sugar Press from Vanessa Cavaco Designs and made a new etsy shop just dedicated to the line that is found in my Blue Sugar Press collection.
Confusing? Yeah I know....and when I have the chance in a couple of weeks or so...I will be opening an Etsy Shop just for my Nastee Notes.....want to keep the 3 different lines seperate.

You can find Blue Sugar Press at etsy here

Vol 25

I was at a loss for words...when I came across Vol 25 over at Etsy...each of the pieces are marvelous. I especially love this silhouette print.

"Many people ask what the story is behind the name vol25. In January of 2008 when I opened the doors to my little shop (via etsy.com) I was 25 years old, and vol25 was like opening a new volume in my life, which in turn has created several new chapters for me.My hopes is that at least one person will connect with each piece of art I create."

What a Weeeeekend

Well where do I start? Hmm that I worked on Friday (yeah on the 4th of July) yeah that's what happens when you work for the family...(I'm not talking 'bout that kind of "FAMILY" even though I did feel like whackin some people )..so this year the sucker who had to work on the 4th was lil ol' me....

Actually I didn't mind it that much since the hubs, my bouncing baby and I had not much planned and the weather here in NYC was kinda crappy....

So I got home and I thought I would have some food ready for me on the table (since the Hubs is the one who cooks in this family) Well was I in shock when I got home and neither one of them was here , no little note, no hot plate of some delicious something waiting for me...Nada, Zip, Zilch.....so I was bitchin' (yeah to myself, since there was no one at my house to bitch too)....so finally the two swinging dudes came home.....and I decided to try and turn a new leaf and not complain that I busted my ass off at work and came home to NOTHING to eat!

We decided to go by the park later to see some of the Macy's fireworks...since you can see them by this park that's a mere couple of blocks from our house...but unfortunately...it started to rain and we headed back and watched them on TV....

So then the hubs scooted all of us to bed since he wanted to trek the next morning to Wildwoods, NJ.

Yeah don't ask me why...guess he wanted to go on a little adventure....all I was thinking was that I would have to put a dent in my beauty sleep and get up early....

Honestly maybe I have been hiding under a rock all these past 33 yrs of my ever so young life...but I had never heard of Wildwood....

So my butt was awoken at 7am (yeah that's EXTREMELY early for me when I have a day off)

We proceeded to get everything ready and trek to this Wildwood...it took about 3 long damn hours to get to this Wildwood....it was in my opinion OK!

There was a beach and a boardwalk and rides (We could've saved those 3 hours and just gone to Coney Island)

The highlight for me was that at the Wildwood Convention Center they had some card and toy expo going on (admission was free) so we went in.....

And I happened to come across these:

Yes that's right ladies and gentleman....I was psyched that I took a 3 hour trip to find me some Garbage Pail Kids....don't know about you...but I must have had all these bad boys when I was a wee tot....scored me a few packs and we were on our merry way....
My bouncing baby boy appreciated the rides....and he had a good time so I guess that's all that matters!

Cicada Studio

Many of you may be familiar with Michelle of Cicada Studio. I found Cicada Studio through Etsy and have been in love with her work ever since. She just launched her textile collection "What's Buzzin, Cousin." In my opinion Michelle is definitely IT in textile design. Her blog happens to be one of my faves as well.
A little more info on Michelle, which I happened to steal ( I mean borrow) from her etsy profile.
"Cicada Studio is my personal project. In 2004, new people, ideas, and circumstances brought to the surface a desire for a creative outlet that encompassed many of my talents. With over 12 years experience in the studios of New York‘s men’s garment industry, I am finally utilizing my design, graphics, merchandising, and business skills in rejuvenated creativity; in contrast to my profession, one that is driven by me alone. Coupling my daily work with my daily dreams, I try to bring an exciting and fresh perspective to the markets that interest me."
