Goodbye 2008!

Let's say Good-bye to 2008, a year that most of us will not forget, filled with events that will make the history books : A historic election, the worst financial crisis in decades, an ongoing war, and numerous natural disasters.
I hope that 2009 will be filled with new hope and changes not only in the United States but all over the world.
Wishing you all the health and happiness in 2009. Thank you for making me love writing on my lil ol' blog with all your wonderful comments and for the friendship you have offered.
Here's to 2009! Cheers!

New Year's Resolutions

I'm not one of those people who makes promises to change something about themselves or their lives when a new year is around the corner. Why? Because I have no willpower...and I'm not going to kid myself...I've made those new year's resolutions in the past and they never work out for me...I just can't stick to them!

So in 2009 I will continue to be a procrastinating-sarcastic-candy and cake eating-no gym membership-disorganized-coca cola addict-workaholic type of gal!

So what are your New Year's resolutions? Hopefully better than mine!

Unwrapped Presents

Christmas is one day away and the presents I bought are still sitting in the bags they left the stores in...I'm just wiped and don't feel like wrapping. Is it wrong to just give gifts in the bags they left the store in? At this moment I'm thinking thats a FAB idea and a new trend I will start....
Hope everyone is doing better than I am at this moment.....

Happy Birthday to MY SON!

Today my bouncing baby boy turns 5! Five years ago today he was born 13 weeks too soon weighing in at a whopping 2lbs 3 oz. Today he is a healthy and happy smart little boy! Happy birthday I love you more than words can describe.

My bouncing baby boy
Five years ago today
You filled my heart with joy.

A preemie you were born
So tiny and so frail
I knew you were a fighter
I knew you would prevail

Finally came the day
When home you would be
The lord had protected you
And sent you home to me

Day by day you show
What a true miracle you are
A healthy boy, a happy boy
My shining super star.

Nothing makes me prouder
Or can give me greater joy
That I was blessed to be your mommy
To you my bouncing baby boy

Cakes By Mona

Ok...so the final step in the Batman Birthday Party saga was to go and pick up the cake! It's horrible weather here in NYC it's been snowing the entire day...but I was thrilled to finally see the Batman car cake.

After doing numerous searches online for sculpted cakes nothing peaked my interest until I came across CMNY Cakes by Mona. When I saw the amazing work she does I knew that this was it for me. I contacted her a few weeks back asking her if she could make my son's birthday cake in the shape of the batman car....I didn't know if it was possible... she responded and said YES! She even asked if I wanted the new batman car or the old version one! Now that is someone who is quite prepared and I knew I had picked the perfect person to do this cake.

Now this batman car is quite complicated...as you can see in the picture below:

(picture via idcow.com)

I just kept thinking how can someone turn this car into a cake? Well that someone was Mona and her fab team at CMNY cakes. When I walked through the door...I could see the cake was there waiting for me to pick up...I just couldn't believe my eyes...so drum roll please....here it is:

I was in utter shock at how exact in detail this cake is. Mona added some color to the windows...because who wants an all black car for a kids birthday party? Now the problem is: I don't think I want this cake to be cut and eaten! It is just too damn cool to destroy it. But I will be taking more pics of it at the party.

So take a look at other masterpieces designed by Mona.

So if you are in the NYC/Long Island area make sure to check her out and take a look at more of her cakes here. I'm already planning some cakes I need in the next few months!

Batman Birthday Party Part III

So my bouncing baby boy's birthday party is quickly approaching....I started early on the preparations since I was swamped with work...happy to say everything is done. All that is left now is to pick up the cake and load the car with the tons of things I have to take to the party location. So that won't be fun...but hey....So below are some pics of my (yes mine) candy buffet, along with the goodie bags that have the tee-shirts I slaved over doing iron on transfers. Let me know what you think....

goodie bags in black and yellow with each child's name printed on the batman emblem

Made this batman centerpiece with cake dummies I had (2 giant circular pieces of heavy duty styrofoam) liked the way the lollypops looked on this rather than in some crappy basket like thing I had

Candy Buffet!!!! Think I bought enough candy to feed a small army

Added some Christmas giant lollypops since it's the Christmas season

Freshly ironed batman tees...awaiting to be packaged....

And there you have it.....now it's loading the stuff into the car on party day! I have been getting a lot of e-mails asking how I set up this shindig and where I purchased items etc... etc.... So I will be working on an informative post about party planning on a budget in the next week or so...stay tuned to the same bat channel and at the same bat time :)

GingerBread Houses

I love making gingerbread houses....(not from scratch) don't have the time...but if I did I would! This year my bouncing baby boy and I will be making a gingerbread choo choo train and I will do my house on my own....since I'm quite picky about it. Here are some gorgeous gingerbread houses or as I like to call them gingerbread mansions....found on flickr from Ineedathis

BlackBerry Storm

So I jumped on the Blackberry bandwagon....it's hard for me to resist new gadgets....I'm the type of chick who rather get gadgets than fancy jewelry(unless it's like a 20 carat ring or something) .......so every Christmas I get some gadget which I add to my collection.....

So as a Christmas gift to myself....I purchased the Storm (actually I went to the store, shelled out my credit card, and 2 years of my life)and walked out empty handed.....why you ask? Well it seems I'm not the only gadget obsessed person in this country....Verizon Wireless doesn't have them in stock and they will start to ship out on December 15th......

I am very impatient worse than a kid....so I'm hoping that maybe just maybe Verizon likes me and I will get mine sooner than the 15th.....

And if I don't there will be hell to pay.....until then I will post a picture I stole from the web...because obviously I don't have my new toy in my hands......

Croc Boots

I was never a Croc fan...found them to be well.....unattractive....that was until our New Years Disney Trip last year where every toe and each corn that adorns my feet were killing me....had to shell out a small fortune for Disney Crocs....but boy was it worth every single penny.....and since then I have become a fan....so winter time is here and I am so digging these croc boots.....
